Be the change...
Build a Career That Truly Matters
Having worked in social care for many years, we’ve seen first-hand the challenges that staff face every day. We’ve experienced how complex and difficult it can be for people to access the right support, and how the true meaning of care can sometimes get lost along the way.
If you want to work with a company that values your passion for care and supports you to thrive, you’re in the right place.
At City Care Southwest, we believe you should enjoy your job, feel supported in your role, and be given the time and training to do care the right way. We’re proud to create an environment where carers feel respected, listened to, and part of a team that genuinely cares! about the people we support and about each other.

A day in the life...
Our Paula
Paula is a Peer Mentor in our adults Service. This means that she supports our newest team members to familiarise themselves with the way that we work.
Our Sian
Sian is a Registered Manager in our Adults Service. This means that she is responsible for ensuring that everyone receives the support they need to thrive, whether they are clients or staff.
A typical day starts at around 8am with my first client. We always have a good laugh while she is getting ready for the day and I encourage her to do as much as possible for herself, but she keeps me on my toes too! Then I drive over to my next lady who is quite poorly at the moment, so I make sure she is comfortable and has everything she needs close by.
I am an early bird, so I am always in before 8am each day and I have a quiet hour each morning to plan my day and read through emails. I check in with the support team when they arrive and we discuss the on-call handover. After we have made a plan for the day with follow ups I check my to-do list and make sure its in order of priority.
After that I go and collect someone and we go to the local shops for a browse. She likes to have a coffee with cake and if the weather is good, we sit outside for a while. I have my lunch afterwards, if I haven’t eaten too much cake!
The first part of my afternoon is spent with the two ladies I saw in the morning. I like this because I know exactly how they were when I left them, and its nice to plan something in the morning for lunch and do it in the afternoon. I see a really chatty gent for my last visit, and we put the world to rights while we make him some dinner and get his medication sorted.
I really enjoy working with my clients, and I feel like I get enough time to do it well. The support team are great as well, always on hand if I need something.
I might have a new recruit in for an interview, so I make sure I put them at ease as we chat through the questions. I always ask them their what/three/words location as we put this on their badge if they are successful. My three words are DrMartens/Fun/Passion. We use this as a way of saying, that is where our heart is. Its a great conversation starter for new clients.
Later on I might see one of my wonderful team for a catch up, we talk about safeguarding and make plans for things they want to get better at or learn.
After we have put the world to rights, I might have a coffee and a chat with the support team. We always have a laugh when we are working, it makes the day go by so quickly that it almost doesn’t feel like work.
