We were really lucky last week to be put in touch with a wonderful, inspiring woman who is working locally to support the people of Plymouth and beyond! One of our key values at City Care Southwest is “Be the Change”, so we were so excited to see that Tiffany was “being” the change and making a difference in our community.
If you know us well, you will already know that we ask everyone we work with for their three word location. Where in the world would your words take you, what do they mean about you. We asked Tiffany the same question and she told us she could be found at Empower.Inclusion.Compassion.
Like us and many others, Tiffany found it difficult to access and navigate services both professionally and personally, and knew that though these services existed, there was no hub or central place where they could be easily found. This, compounded with a lack of funding and sometimes, staffing, made communication and engagement inconsistent too, further adding to frustrations.
Not happy to just accept this, Tiffany was motivated to make a difference and be the change that was needed! And as something that we feel really passionately about, we wanted to help share it!
Tiffany has developed an extensive directory of organisations, services, peer support groups, and resources which are available across the Southwest and in some cases, nationally.
What started as a list of Autism friendly services which she felt would be beneficial to individuals seeking support or a friendly space, for themselves or for their loved ones, soon started to snowball into what is now an extensive directory of services which help to meet a whole range of needs.
The directory is free to access, and Tiffany wants it to be a useful tool for both professionals and the general public, so she is working tirelessly to get the word out.
This amazing resource provides links and descriptions, so you can identify which one will be best according to what we you are looking for and it caters for the very old, the very young and everyone in between.
Tiffany you are an absolute credit to yourself and to our city, and we are so proud to be able to share your work!
You can contact Tiffany by E-Mail on devonandcornwalldirectory@hotmail.com and she shares updates on her
Facebook page HERE.
Tiffany has partnered with Marbles Lost and Found, another amazing initiative for people experiencing challenges to their mental health and the Trauma Informed Plymouth Network which was developed as an innovative response to the emerging evidence regarding childhood adversity and the impact of trauma on people, communities, and those delivering services. You can find a copy of her directory on both of these websites, aswell as a host of other useful information.
